GEOG 3330: URBAN ENVIRONMENTAL GEOGRAPHY

HYDROSPHERE of SALT LAKE COUNTY FIELD TRIP

 

2010 -- APRIL 10-11, Saturday and Sunday.

 

The field trip is scheduled for Saturday (April 10), and Sunday (April 11, 2010 ). There will be a hardship-case, dry-run for one or two students on Friday. You've already paid the fee for the trip as part of the course registration. We'll travel by University mini-van with a maximum of 7 per vehicle.

 

On Monday, April 5, you'll get your field guide and worksheets.. These are yours to keep. Bring them on the field trip, you'll hand both in on April 14 to be graded.

 

  Before we set out, you must sign a disclaimer required by UofU Department of Geography. LINK. I'll have hard copy for you to sign. . Field trips have inherent risks. I try to minimize them. Be safety conscious. All participants are responsible for safety..

This field expreience is 6% of your grade!!

MARCH 29 and thereafter -- sign up on the yellow, master sheet that I have in class for one of the field trip sessions. (PAGE). The yellow page is the master list. If you have hardship case and all are impossible, let me know as soon as possible to see if there is any way for you to participate. There sometimes are ways to accomodate you before the trip... but rarely after. Don't be late. We try to start promptly so we finish on time.

MEET in the parking lot in front (just east) of the Union Building, where the shuttles come and go. There's no charge for parking in that visitors' lot on weekends..
Breaks: we’ll stop at a convenience store. Let me know of special needs.
Weather: Wear sensible clothes. It could be beautiful… or miserable.

Course evaluations for past years have said that this field trip pulls concepts of hydrology together … even if the weather is miserable! You may want to bring a camera and/or binoculars.
